- The teacher talks very loud and slow.
- The teacher repeats everthing twice and sometimes three times, like questions.
- The teacher uses a lot of gesture when she realize that students don't understand instructions/questions.
- At the beggining of the class, the teacher starts asking the name of the story. Students seem shy since they do not want to answer. After the teacher explained the question many times, students are encouraged to answer.
- Students do not talk a lot but they respect the teacher because they are paying attention to her.
- The teacher looks comfortable and confident. She looks very relaxed and smile to their students.
- When the teacher starts reading the story, she reads very slow and points out keywords. She also uses a lot of mimicry in order to explain better difficult vocabulary.
- Then she starts asking their students comprhesensive questions about the reading. Students seem very motivated and answer choraly (different answers).
- It was a little bit messy when most students answered questions, becuase it was difficult to understands all their answers, but the teacher understood the main idea and repeated what students said.
- As stuents realized that they didn't need to take turns to talk, they became disruptive, talking a lot and getting distracted sometimes.
- The teacher allows the use of Spanish. In one moment she use that language as well, as she didn't know how to explain something. At the end, students understood the message.
- According to the second teacher, she was the one in charge of the PPT.
- Therefore, the second teacher didn't move from the place of the mouse. She also did not participate that much since she was concentrated on technology.
- When she had to give instructions, she did not speak that much. She did not use mimicry at the moment to explain something.
- Students at the end of the class were talking about different things that were not connected to the class itself. An example is two girls laughing quietly after they murmured something.
After this class, I would conclude that:
- It was a very good class. Leonor and Vania brought a interesting activity in which shows a new way of reading.
- Students at the same time look very motivated with the activity due to the fact that the online book payed their attention. This activity included reading, listening and pictures of the reading which were according to the student's grade and English Proficiency level.
- The teacher played an important role in this class. She was in charge to command the activity. Moreover, she really looks like a teacher since we can see how she can explain something, using different tools like the tone of her voice or body language. She also uses a lot the space of the class, without staying in the same place. This strategy help to catch stundent's attention.
- Even though the class was pretty good, students at moments lost concentration. They probably talk when they realized that the teacher did not stop them talking when necessary. Sometimes it is important to see that students participate, but when all of them answer at the same time, they they think they can talk all the time.
- Anyway Leonor showed us that she will be an excellent teacher and has good classroom management, because of the reasons mentioned above.
